Piano /pɪˈanəʊ/ noun
A large keyboard musical instrument with a wooden case enclosing a soundboard and metal strings, which are struck by hammers when the keys are depressed. The strings' vibration is stopped by dampers when the keys are released and can be regulated for length and volume by two or three pedals.

Guitar /ɡɪˈtɑː/ noun
A stringed musical instrument, with a fretted fingerboard, typically incurved sides, and six or twelve strings, played by plucking or strumming with the fingers or a plectrum.
At Cantata School of Music our three experienced guitar tutors will expertly navigate you through all stages of your learning process, from beginner to advanced, playing both in a leisure capacity or through structured Grade work. No matter what route you take the skills you gain will have you playing your favourite tunes in no time, developing ability in rhythm, melody, and overall musicianship.
Through The Registry Of Guitar Tutors and Rockschool grade books, pupils can progress in acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, depending on their specific interest, as they work towards their certificate.
Acoustic Guitar: the focus here will be mainly in chord work and rhythm playing. Pupils will learn a new batch of chords with every new book and then work to apply these chords in accompaniment and solo performances. As well as this there will be scales and melodies to play so that a multitude of skills will be developed.
Electric Guitar: in learning the electric guitar pupils will be aiming largely towards solo and lead playing, so scales and melody will be key. Nevertheless chords are not ignored altogether and a wide range of chord types will be learnt from Grade 1.
Bass Guitar: this is a staple of the rhythm section so your focus will be on keeping time with the drums and underpinning the overall harmony of the music. Again, scales are essential here so that over time you will develop a good command of the fretboard and be able to improvise over the harmony.
No matter where your interest lies in guitar playing our tutors at Cantata will go above and beyond to develop your skill and confidence in the instrument, catering all lessons to your specific needs.
