Speech and Drama

At Cantata we have been able to offer wonderful Speech and Drama classes – we are so excited to be able to offer them again this year with our new tutor.

Meet Gráinne –
Gráinne is a fully qualified teacher (BA Hons, PGCE) and has joined Cantata following her recent relocation from the South East of England where she was Assistant Headteacher of an Outstanding school with a designated specialism in Performing & Creative Arts.

As Head of the Creative Arts Faculty, Gráinne has been teaching Performing Arts (Music, Singing, Acting & Movement) to students in Kent aged 5-18 for more than 12 years.

She is a confident and capable practitioner with a true passion for Music & Performing Arts which is reflected in the exceptional results she achieves with her students. Gráinne is a specialist in Musical Theatre and has worked as a Director/Musical Director on several full scale high profile Musical Theatre productions. These have included the International Schools’ premier of Betty Blue Eyes (with special permission from Cameron Mackintosh) and the English schools’ premiers of both ‘The Phantom of The Opera’ and ‘Zorro!’. Other notable productions include ‘Miss Saigon’, ‘Les Miserables’, ‘Hairspray’, Spamalot’, ‘Jekyll & Hyde’, ‘Whistle Down The Wind’, ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, ‘Oliver’, ‘Wizard of Oz’, ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Evita’ and ‘Oh What A Lovely War!’ to name but a few. In an educational setting, Gráinne has had the opportunity to take part in with a number of theatre workshops/masterclasses with some highly influential professionals from the theatre industry including Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter, Gypsy, Sweeney Todd), Vincent Pryce (Evita, Pirates of the Carribean, Miss Saigon), Clare Moore (Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon) and Peter Polycarpou (Birds of a feather, Miss Saigon). Gráinne has also had the privilege of working closely with George Stiles & Anthony Drew (Honk! Gráinne is passionate about developing confidence and exploring creativity through the medium of Perfofming Arts and is really looking forward to working with the talented students at Cantata!
